Cemetery records: One of our most popular research resources is the book
Burials in Chisago County compiled by Earl W. Leaf in 1994. It is a listing of all
known burials and deaths in Chisago County at that time. This is an extensive
work created from cemetery transcriptions, county death records, and obit-
uaries. There are separate sections for each cemetery with all interments listed
alphabetical by surname. Known family relationships, military service, and
other information is also listed for many records. A master surname index helps
you find burial locations when this information is unknown. Another section lists
all deaths recorded in Chisago County where the final disposition is unknown. A
PDF version of this book can be viewed online by our Yahoo! Group members.
Other Resources: CCHS has published an extensive history of our area, titled
A History of Chisago County 1851-2001. This book contains pictures, facts, and
personalized stories of Chisago County from the beginnings of pioneer settle-
ment to recent times. You will find special sections on each of the villages and
townships, listings of county commissioners, Century farms, local legislators,
and historical sites. Indexed, 291 pages, softcover 8-1/2 x 11. The book can be
purchased by sending a check or money order for $26.00 payable to the
Chisago County Historical Society at PO Box 146, Lindstrom, MN 55045. The
fee covers the cost of the book, MN sales tax, and shipping within the US.
