A historical pioneer log cabin
This pioneer log home was built in 1869, four miles northwest of Rush City
in Nessel township by Michael and Mary (Dailey) Delmore. They were an
Irish family from Kildare County, Ireland who immigrated to America,
came from Oxford, Ohio and settled in Minnesota. Michael and Mary's son
Edward lived in this house with his wife Julia (Larkin) Delmore until 1938.
In 1963 the Fransen Family donated the log house to the Chisago County
Historical Society. It was moved to the Chisago County fairgrounds and a
large pole building was installed for protection. The new building also
provided additional storage and exhibit space for the historical society.
The Delmore log house, along with the Polish shtetl movie set, are open for
group tours in warm weather months and during the Chisago County Fair.
You will find the Historical Exhibits building next to the Cheewin Log
Lodge, near the southeast entrance to the fairgrounds.
Contact the Society at 651-257-5310 or email the office for more
