2013 Scheduled Events and Demonstrations
The History Research Library (13112 Third Avenue North, Lindstrom) is open on
Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings for drop in service. Bring your local history
or genealogy questions and stop by.
Looking for a great way to practice and learn pioneer textile handiwork skills, such
as spinning, knitting, and quilting, which have been used for centuries? Bring your own
project to work on or just stop in for a visit. Ongoing groups meet in Rush City at the
Community Center from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm on the second and fourth Tuesday and in
Lindstrom at the History Research Library from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on the first Tuesday
and third Thursday.
The CCHS Board of Directors meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the
History Research Library. If you have a program suggestion or fundraising idea, please
call 651-257-5310 so it can be added to the agenda for discussion. You are welcome to
attend the meetings at any time.

Friday thru Sunday, May 3 - 5 and May 10 - 12 (1:00 pm to 4:30 pm): An exhibit
of St. Croix Valley Wedding Clothes at the Taylors Falls Historical Society Visitor Center in
the lower level of the Historic Taylors Falls Depot/Community Center. Lovely historic
outfits including Laura Lent's dress which she wore for her wedding to George Mattson on
December 31, 1913 and a post-Civil War era black wedding dress - a style which became
common after President Lincoln's death. This is a co-operative exhibit sponsored by the
Chisago County Historical Society and the Taylors Falls Historical Society in
Minnesota and the Polk County Historical Society of Wisconsin.
Thursday, May 16th (1:00 pm to 3:00 pm or 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm): Natural
Heritage Summit at the Taylors Falls Memorial Community Center in Taylors Falls. You
must register by May 10 by calling 715-386-9490 or RSVP via
www.stcroixheritage.org/summit. A review of where the project stands regarding
submitting an application for this region to become a National Heritage Area "Many
Waters, Many Stories". There will be an overview of the purpose, significance, and
milestones to date.
